3 tips to choose yoga mat towel

Choosing a yoga mat towel is tough. There are a lot of options out there, and it can be hard to pick the best one. If you’re on a budget, look for a yoga mat towel at The Summer Chaser or Walmart instead of splurging on one at an expensive boutique studio store like Lululemon or Reebok CrossFit headquarters in Santa Monica (California). Here are 4 tips to help you choose the right yoga mat towel:

1.   Look for an antimicrobial fabric

Look for a towel that is made of natural fibers like cotton or linen rather than synthetic materials like acrylic or nylon. The antimicrobial material on most yoga mats has been shown to keep bacteria from forming, which prevents odor. If you have a particularly bad odor problem, this may be your best option.Look for a yoga mat towel that is thin and lightweight.Choose a towel that is made from cotton or synthetic fabric, not a material like plastic or PVC.

2.   Choose a towel with a high thread count

Choose a towel that absorbs sweat and doesn’t get heavy or slippery when wet. This will help reduce friction when you dry off after your workout and make it easier for you to clean your towel. A higher thread count also means that more fibers are woven into each square inch of fabric, so it has more strength and durability than lower-thread count fabrics.Choose a towel that absorbs sweat and doesn’t hold onto it like a sponge or sponge-like material would do.Make sure the towel is sized large enough so that it covers your whole body without getting in the way when you stretch out on your back during certain poses like downward-facing dog (AdhoMukhaSvanasana).

3.   Consider the weight and size of your towel when buying one

You want something that’s comfortable but won’t fold up on itself or get caught in anything while you’re working out — especially if you’re using lots of accessories like straps or straps with buckles (which can snag on towels). Most yoga mats are made to fit inside one another, so the size of your mat is important for determining the right towel for your practice. If you have a large mat that covers most of your body, you will want something with a large surface area to keep it clean. If you have a smaller mat that covers less of your body and there is space on top of it between your hands, then we would suggest using a towel that is thinner than what you would need for a larger mat.

4.   Scent matters

If you are using a neoprene or other synthetic material as your towel, then it might not be as important to find one with an odor-neutralizing scent because these types of materials do not absorb odors as well as cotton towels do. However, if you are using natural fibers like cotton or wool, then finding an odor-neutralizing scent can help reduce any unpleasant smells from occurring during your session. Additionally, if you plan on washing your towel after use, then finding one with an odor-neutralizing scent will help prevent any lingering smells from occurring after washing.
