4 Tips To Be A Better Real Estate Agent

If you recently took your pre-license real estate broker course online, you will soon become a real estate agent! Being a real estate agent can be an exciting and financially rewarding career. By following our tips below, you can become one of the best agents in your community after you finish your real estate school.

Become An Expert Communicator

Selling real estate is only partially about homes, land, and investment properties. The majority of the work is about making connections with other people. There are lots of real estate agents but there are very few successful ones who don’t relate well to others.

Becoming an expert communicator as a real estate agent is about creating rapport and trust with your real estate clients. How do you do that?

First, always be available on the phone or by text, and when you aren’t available, get back to people within an hour or two.

Also, get used to talking to clients and potential clients about things that aren’t always related to buying and selling a home. The fact is, most people don’t care how much you know about a neighborhood or how many homes you sold – that is, until they feel like you care and they really know you.

Make sure to constantly practice active listening skills and listen to everything your clients say. This means getting rid of all distractions when you are talking to them and paying close attention as a buyer’s or seller’s agent

You can even make notes about the preferences and quirks of every client. Write down the things they talk about and their interests. Then ask them about what’s going on with them when you follow up about a house.

Use Technology To Its Full Advantage

There was a time when successful real estate agents didn’t use technology much. But these days, clients expect you to be tech-savvy. They want to receive text updates about available properties, and they also are looking for comps to be sent to their cell phones.

The best real estate agents today know to use their clients’ preferred tech. For example, if your client prefers texts to emails, make a note of it and give them an update text every few days about their listing.

If you reach out to them without being asked and provide helpful information, there’s a great chance they will stick with you and refer their friends.

Deal With Issues Ahead Of Time

Remember your goal: to sell houses so you get commissions. And the better you organize your day, the more time you have for each client. This means you’ll close more deals and make more money.

Deal with issues before they crop up so they don’t interfere with your goals. For example, we all know that home inspections often lead to unforeseen issues and complications that delay closings. So prepare for that by making sure that home is ready for inspection and any potential issues that might come up.

Stress the Positives

All homes have advantages and disadvantages. For example, let’s say that you are showing a two-story home that has the staircase three feet from the front door. Many people won’t like that because there isn’t a foyer and you are almost walking up the steps from the street.

This sounds like a big negative and it can be if you think about it that way. But someone who has more limited mobility may like having the steps near the front door for convenience’s sake. It comes down to how you view the situation.

You should look at everything in your real estate career in that way. Emphasize the positive and you will be rewarded.
