6 Wimbledon 2023 Favorites: 3 Potential Men & 3 Possible Women Champions
With Wimbledon 2023 right around the corner, one of the world’s biggest sporting competitions is starting to generate its usual hype and buzz across all corners of the world.
For fans in the UK, the arrival of the legendary grass-court Grand Slam means summer is on the horizon, while it also brings a sense of excitement about the sport of tennis. More and more people decide to pick up a tennis racquet and go to their local courts and start playing, albeit for a short period of time.
Nonetheless, the rest of the world also gets hyped over the competition, with many enjoying its uniqueness as well as getting involved with the famous strawberries and cream combination that has become renowned.
Wimbledon 2023
This year’s tournament is no different. Many cannot wait for the action to unfold when the Grand Slam starts on Monday, July 3 and takes center stage for the next two weeks. The Men’s Final is scheduled for Sunday, July 16, while the Women’s Final should occur the day before. Both matches will be played on the iconic Center Court, with some of the world’s biggest celebrities likely to be in attendance and royalty who are expected to take up their positions in the Royal Box.
Which players are we expecting to see take their place in the respective finals in this summer’s tennis major?
Wimbledon 2023 Men’s Favorites – The Three Candidates
According to the latest odds being provided, a couple of familiar names are being considered to be potential Wimbledon Champions.
Presently, Novak Djokovic is the favorite and is expected by many to capture his eighth title. Winning in 2023 would see him retain his No. 1 world ranking and put him in the history books for another incredible feat. If the Serbian is able to keep hold of his current title, he will hold the record for the most wins at the All England Club alongside Rodger Federer. Having recently won the French Open this year, as well as the Australian Open, there are not many that will be betting against him this summer.
Those considering wagering on the Men’s side of the competition while they watch the tennis livestream offered to enhance their betting experiences may also want to consider Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard is one of the brightest talents in the sport and despite still only being 20 years old, he has shown that he can compete at the highest level. He won the 2022 US Open, and was a semifinalist in the French Open in June. He was beaten by Djokovic – who also took the No. 1 ranking from the Spaniard.
Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner are also considered favorites with betting platforms, but they do have longer odds than the two mentioned above at this stage. Naturally, these could all change when the draw is made.
Three Women’s Wimbledon Favorites
On the women’s side of the draw, there are familiar names to appear as the leading favorites to potentially be crowned the 2023 Wimbledon winner. Elena Rybakina is the defending champion, but the Kazakhstani is not considered the favorite to win it again. She is believed to have a very good chance of doing so.
The favorite for many at this year’s event is Iga Swiatek. The Polish superstar has been one of the best in the female game for years, and she showed that once again when she won her third French Open last month. This added to her US Open success in 2022. She has not had success at Wimbledon (or in Australia). At the All England Club, the world No. 1 has only managed a best Fourth Round appearance, which was achieved in 2021. She was beaten in the Third Round last season having been toppled by Alize Cornet in surprising fashion. Notwithstanding, the Pole is expected to be the main contender this year.
Elsewhere, Rybakina is thought to be a potential contender if Swiatek does not manage to achieve success, while Aryna Sabalenka is also favored by many that have created odds for the 2023 Wimbledon Grand Slam. Sabalenka was banned from last year’s competition, but she has since won the 2023 Australian Open, thus making her a challenger to keep a close eye on when the action returns to the grass this summer.
