Kamryn Simmons, 6, Found Safe After Walking Away From Roseville Home

A 6-year-old boy who walked away from his Roseville, Minnesota, home early Tuesday morning was found safe after a search that lasted several hours and drew community attention across the Twin Cities.
Roseville police say Kamryn Simmons left his home on foot around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26. He was last seen in the 900 block of Sherren Street.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a white shirt and tan shorts. He is described as approximately 4 feet tall and weighing around 50 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Following reports of the missing child, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued an endangered missing person alert, asking the public to help locate the boy.
The alert noted an initial report about a blue backpack, which police later clarified Kamryn was not carrying.
Throughout the morning and into the afternoon, Roseville police coordinated search efforts in the area. Authorities asked the public to share information while also stating that civilian volunteers were not needed on the ground at that time.
Residents and community members were encouraged to report any sightings by calling 911 or contacting the Roseville Police Department directly at 651-767-0640.
Word spread quickly on social media and through local news outlets, with Twin Cities residents keeping a close eye on updates. Both MPR News and KSTP Channel 5 covered the search throughout the day, providing real-time information to help get the word out.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Roseville police canceled the alert after Kamryn was found safe. The department did not release specific details about where or how he was located, but confirmed he was unharmed.
“Thank you to everyone who assisted in locating him and for sharing the information,” the Roseville Police Department said in a statement following the news of his safe recovery.
The case drew attention not only because of the child’s young age but also because of how quickly the alert was activated and how broadly the community responded.
In situations involving young children who wander from home, time is critical, and the rapid coordination between law enforcement and the public is widely credited with helping bring situations like this to a safe resolution.
Following his recovery, MPR News updated its reporting to remove identifying information about the child, a standard practice once a missing child alert has been canceled and the individual is no longer in danger.
Roseville is a suburban city in Ramsey County, located just north of Saint Paul. The community has a tight-knit reputation, and Tuesday’s response from residents reflected that.
Many residents shared the alert across neighborhood groups and social media platforms throughout the morning hours, helping to spread awareness as broadly and quickly as possible.
While the details surrounding how Kamryn came to leave his home and how he was ultimately found have not been made public, the outcome is the one everyone was hoping for. He is safe, and his family has been reunited with him.
Authorities continue to remind parents and caregivers that if a child goes missing, calling 911 immediately gives law enforcement the best chance to respond quickly.
