APPLYING WATER WAVE WIG THE RIGHT WAY:
At Luvmehair, we often get customers who are new to embracing curly hair. Luvmehair provides the highest quality hair products in the industry while guaranteeing professional and informed expert assistance for a pampering online shopping experience.
We are giving a step by step guide on how to wear and maintain water wave hair the right way. Let’s dive into it:
- The first step is to protect and secure your natural hair. Tie and tuck all your hair in the back. Make sure to brush them through before you put them out of the way. Also, make sure they are clean and not sitting there tangled and dirty. Use a wig cap. Try to match the colour as close to your natural skin colour as you can.
- Make sure your forehead is clear of any makeup or oil. You want the lace to stick to your skin properly. Use a makeup sponge to apply alcohol or witch hazel to your forehead as it cleans and dries out any unnecessary pigments in the area.
- Start cutting the lace. Make sure you take your sweet time while cutting the lace. Do it slow and concentrate. You want to cut it as close to your hairline as possible. Cut small portions at a time. This will prevent you from over or undercutting the lace. It will also result in a neater cut.
- Apply glue. Do not slather glue in the first go. Many beginners make the mistake of overusing the glue which ends up showing on your skin. It can also cause a very uncomfortable hold and pull on your skin. Apply a thin layer. Then apply gentle pressure on the top to spread out the glue.
- You are good to go!
For the best experience with your water wave hair, we will share a few low-maintenance tips with you.
- Do not sleep with your wig on. It is as bad as going to bed with makeup. It will make your hair coarse and frizzy in no time. It will also cause tangles making them look untamed.
- Invest in a good wig stand. The best way to keep a wig when not in use is to hang it vertically. Hanging it on a wig stand allows it to retain a head shape.
- Wash your wig once in a while. (Read our blog on how to wash and look after water wave hair).
- Do not brush dry hair. You can mix water with a conditioner and spray it on your hair before brushing. The most advisable way is to apply a detangling cream before brushing.
- If you decide to sleep with your hair on, which we still advise against, use a silk scarf. Silk is gentle on your hair and does not cause friction. This will help retain its structure and texture.
- Don’t use heat treatments on your hair. This will do more damage than good. If you decide to still use heat treatments, make sure you use heat protectants.
