Bryan was taken into custody as the main suspect for the murder of four Young University student from the University of Idaho. Kaylee Gonnalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle were the four victims. Bryan was detained at his home around 3:00 p.m.

Along with the felony burglary, Bryan was also charged with intent murder. Bryan made his first court appearance in 2022 on Thursday, 5 January. Analyzing the Document, Bryan was found to have stabbing as the probable cause.
