Further Limits on Covid Travel Will Be Imposed By Hong Kong

Testing for COVID-19

The Community Testing Centers in Hong Kong accept appointments from people who have no symptoms. ·         Their itineraries is contained within a single ticket

·         their baggage has been checked through until the final destination

Restrictions on Transportation

Mandatory COVID-19 testing upon arrival in Hong Kong

Requirements for Entering and Exiting the Country

Restrictions on entry

A valid employment visa and one of the following travel documents is required for all foreign domestic helpers and Hong Kong residents who are fully vaccinated and have recently visited a country in Group A (see below) in order to enter Hong Kong.

·         “A” or “R” codes on the Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card or Hong Kong Identity Card bear the “C” code

·         has the “U” identifier

·         A passport issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

·         Entry to Hong Kong for non-residents of Hong Kong will be restricted

·         Only HK residents and fully vaccinated non-HK residents are allowed to enter Hong Kong if they have recently travelled from or visited a Group B country.

Group C travellers, including Hong Kongers and non-Hong Kongers who have not visited any other countries or regions in the last 14 days, are permitted to enter Hong Kong. Regardless of vaccination status.

Exemptions from a restriction on access

As long as the following passengers meet all the other requirements specified below, they are free from the entrance limitations

·         Holders with official passports, such as diplomats

·         Residents of Hong Kong and their families

·         Officials of the local government fulfilling their duties

·         Government of Hong Kong SAR-approved anti-epidemic personnel

·         To work, study, start or join any business, or to live permanently in Hong Kong. Passengers with a fresh entrance visa.

Refusal of a quarantine

The 14-day quarantine period is waived for Locals who have booked a Return2HK quota, provided they have the following documentation upon their return from the Chinese Macao or mainland:

·         valid Hong Kong Identification Card or other proof of Hong Kong residency identification

·         Successful booking confirmation for the Return2HK programme

·         Authenticated proof of a negative COVID-19 polymerase chain collective response nucleic acid test result as well as a screenshot to confirm that the testing corporation concerned is an acknowledged one and included in the WeChat Mini Program on nucleotide testing organisation enquiry function after submitting and completing the electronic medical declaration form of the HK Department of Health, the green QR code of Return2HK was acquired.

Group A — Places with high risk

If you or someone you know has recently visited any of these countries or transited through them within the last 21 days (Brazil, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Greece, France, Indonesia, Ireland, Iran, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, The Netherlands, Russia, The Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, Turkey, Thailand, UAE, UK, or US), you may be subject to a travel ban imposed by the country in which you resided or transited.

·         People who have been vaccinated in Hong Kong or who have resided or travelled through these countries are allowed into Hong Kong if they can show proof of vaccination.

·         the passenger’s name appears on a test report given by a laboratory or healthcare facility in order to demonstrate that:

·         PCR-based nucleic acid testing for COVID-19 has been performed by the researchers

·         PCR testing for COVID-19 was performed within 72 hours of the flight’s scheduled departure time; and the test result was negative.

Group B: Areas with a Moderate Level of Risk

Anyone who has been to or travelled through a location that isn’t part of Groups A or C, the Chinese mainland, or the Macao Special Administrative Region.

As long as the passenger’s name appears on the test report produced by a laboratory or healthcare institution, they are allowed to enter Hong Kong, regardless of whether they are Hong Kong residents or non-Hong Kong residents who have been in or transited these countries in the last 14 days.

Group C – Places that aren’t particularly dangerous

Members of Group B, those who have remained or travelled New Zealand in the last 14 days.

·         In order to enter Hong Kong, both Hong Kong residents and non-residents who have been to one of the following places in the last 14 days must show the following documentation:

·         the passenger’s name appears on a test report given by a laboratory or healthcare facility in order to demonstrate that:

·         PCR-based nucleic acid testing for COVID-19 has been performed by the researchers

·         PCR testing for COVID-19 was performed within 72 hours of the flight’s scheduled departure time; and the test result was negative.
