HBO Cancels ‘The Visitor’: Those Responsible For The Series Are Already Looking For A New Home For Season 2

Stephen King confirmed in mid-October that season 2 of ‘The Visitor’ , even declaring that it would be ” really creepy “, so surely no one expected that HBO was going to cancel the series. However, that is what has happened and those responsible for it are already looking for a new home for its second season.

The news is an even bigger surprise if we take into account the good audiences that the first season had, since the end of it had almost 90% more live following than the pilot, but that was not enough for HBO to want go ahead with it. From the chain they have released the following statement after the news was made official.

We have enjoyed our collaboration with Richard Price, Jason Bateman, Andrew Bernstein, and the MRC team, and we wish them all the best in continuing this world created by the brilliant Stephen King.

From Deadline it is clarified that MRC is already looking for interested in staying with the series and is going to focus on high-level cable networks and streaming platforms. The company has a close relationship with Netflix , with whom it has collaborated on titles such as ‘House of Cards’ or ‘Ozark’ , but at the moment it is unknown if it has any interest in staying with ‘The visitor’.

Cynthia Erivo has already made it clear that she was interested in continuing to give life to Holly Gibney, so Price, showrunner of the series, had already shaped the plot of the second season around that character and counting on King’s blessing to expand the universe that he created.
