What Is Detoxification?

Starting with a definition of the term will give you a better understanding of what you intend to do.

Detoxification is a cleansing process whereby impurities are eliminated from the blood, liver, kidney, skin, and other organs responsible for eliminating toxins.

Daily, we consume food, drinks, and water that can cause the accumulation of toxic waste in vital organs. When there is no proper excretion of waste from the body, there is a need for a detox.

Aside from taking more fruits, vegetables, and water, it is also important to practice yoga and meditation for optimum performance.

How To Know You Need To Detoxify Your Body

Medically, nursing mothers, pregnant women, and patients with chronic diseases are not expected to detox to prevent an adverse health effect. They can only try that after seeing a doctor.

Some signs warrant a detox as outlined below;

  • Fatigue
  • Skin irritation
  • Eye bags
  • Indigestion
  • Bloating
  • Stomach upset
  • Menstrual issues
  • Mental problems
  • Allergies
  • Being vulnerable to infection

How To Start Your Body Detox

Before commencing this process, you need to stop the intake of coffee, cigarettes, saturated fats, carbonated drinks, alcohol, and refined sugars.

Minimize chemical-based household cleaners and skincare products for your skin, and substitute them for natural ones. You have to do all these for a smooth detox process.

Also, try yoga and meditation to relax your mind and body to relieve stress, which impedes a successful detox.

Tips For Body Detox

  1. Take more herbs like milk thistle, burdock, and dandelion root, and replace coffee with green tea. Doing this cleanses the liver. Milk thistle is one of the most effective remedies for liver disease.
  1. Practice breathing exercises. This helps oxygen circulate totally through your body system.
  1. Eat more fruits, vegetables, green rice, broccoli, cabbage, chlorella, seaweed, beets, radishes, and other fibers. This helps in detoxifying your body.
  1. To produce a liver substance (glutathione) that drives away toxins, take Vitamin C.
  1. Ensure you take at least two quarts of water daily. This ensures constant hydration and also helps with eliminating toxins.
  1. Focus on positive emotions and thoughts. This will help with relieving stress.
  1. A steam bath will help you eliminate waste through perspiration. Do that often.
  1. Apply hydrotherapy. Have a hot water bath for at least five minutes. After that use applies cold water for a few seconds. Having done that, have a nap for some hours.
  1. Try out a foot bath and dry brushing your skin. This eliminates toxins through your skin pores.
  1. Exercise your body. This is one effective way to detoxify your body. Aside from practicing yoga and meditation, try out other exercises with health benefits.

Finally:

Before trying out herbs and other medications, consult your doctor to be sure you need a detox.
