Most of the aspirants make the same mistake of ignoring the most current affairs-orientated part or content. To be successful in the Central Services Examination, a candidate must know the right way of studying Current Affairs. A newspaper consists of various parts and all these parts must be covered to succeed in the CSE examination. The approaches are as follows:

  1. Firstly, aspirants must know what type of topics they shall majorly focus on. One of the important topics is – What are constitutional provisions and what enables them to make amendments. This is a must-read CA topic when preparing for the UPSC exam. The aspirants must focus on the mandatory constitution provision such as Fundamental Rights, Directive Principle of State Policies, and so on.
  2. Secondly, they must get to the details of these issues or in short must dig deeper to know everything related to current affairs. There are various famous legal arguments that candidates must know by heart. For example, Indira Sawhney & Ors v. Union of India judgment, M. Nagaraj v. Union of India 2006, judgment around the issue related to reservation.
  3. Thirdly, they should smartly note down the names of famous leaders or groups/institutions, their roles, and events related to them. The topics such as roles of selection committees, the role of Lok sabha and Rajya sabha, comparison between them, and so on must be read thoroughly by the candidates.
  4. Moreover, a newspaper is the best resource for getting to know about current affairs. A candidate can make brief notes while reading the newspaper. On the first go, it will take time but over time, it will reduce drastically. Making notes will also help you to revise later on.
