Early Life and Education

Born on November 23, 1999, in South Carolina, Jake Wallin was raised in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. He attended St. Michael-Albertville High School and later went on to further his education at Alexandria Technical and Community College and the American Military University.

Military Service

Jake’s dedication to service manifested at a young age when he joined the Minnesota National Guard. He fearlessly served on deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. His military service instilled in him a sense of purpose that went beyond the average call of duty.

A Commitment to Police Service

After his honorable military service, Jake pursued his passion for protecting and serving others. In April 2023, he joined the Fargo Police Department, where his commitment to community safety made a lasting impact. His selflessness and constant cheer brightened the lives of those around him.

Personal Life

Jake’s love for his family and his dog, Thor, was unmistakable. Jake Wallin had recently become engaged to Winter Malone and enjoyed strong bonds with both parents, Jeff and Amy Wallin, as well as brother Brady. Jake has left an irreparable hole in their lives as his loss remains felt dearly by those closest to him.

On July 14th 2023 while serving his community he loved so dearly, Jake was tragically shot to death during an unfortunate shooting incident. Both federal and state authorities continue to conduct their inquiries regarding this tragic event.

Remembering Jake Wallin

Jake will be honored at Pequot Lakes High School (30805 Olson Street in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota 56472) beginning at 10:30 am for his funeral service and private graveside services will follow at Greenwood Cemetery nearby in Nisswa. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Soldier’s 6.

His dedication, love for family and friends, and unflinching bravery will always be remembered fondly by those he served; while we mourn his passing away we also remember all he accomplished as part of public safety service.
