Nikki Catsouras’s Causes of Death:

Nikki was a young girl who was studying at college. After having lunch with her family Nikki drove her father’s Porsche 911 Carrera car to the office. After seeing her driving the car, her mother informed Christos Catsouras about Nikki’s father.

Christos began to drive in search of Nikki. 911 was informed. Christos was held for a while. He learned later from a 911 representative, that Nikki had been killed in a car accident.

Nikki was driving along Lake Forest’s 241 Toll Road. She drove at 160 km/h and attempted to pass Honda Civic from the left side. Nikki lost control over her car near the broad median of 241 Toll Road. She collided with a concrete toll booth at the Alton Parkway interchange. The 241 Toll Road didn’t have any physical barriers and the toll booth wasn’t manned.

Nikki’s Photography:

Nikki was killed instantly after the car crashed. Her body was so badly damaged that it was impossible for her parents to identify her. According to protocol, California Highway Patrol (CHP), marshals took photographs of the accident.

Thomas O’Donnel, Aaron Reich and his two colleagues forwarded the photos to them. They then forwarded them to four more people. The Pictures went viral and were then leaked online. A few people used the photo to make fun of it. They wrote: “Whooo daddy!” I’m still alive.

Christos’s and Nikki’s mother Lesli were disturbed by the leaked photos. They were so affected by it that they stopped using the internet. CHP protocol states that the images are not to be published. Nikki’s family was granted the right to sue the Supreme Court of California over viral Pictures because their dissemination has caused distress.

O’Donnel was therefore suspended for twenty-five consecutive days without pay. CHP reached an agreement with Nikki’s parents on 30 January 2012 and paid $2.37 Million in damages Controversy.
