About Okanagan Hockey Group
Founded by Larry Lund in Penticton, BC, Canada, Okanagan Hockey Camps is the longest-operating hockey camp in the world. The Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) was established in 2002 as the first hockey-specific sports school recognized by BC Hockey and Hockey Canada. Okanagan Hockey is built on experience, knowledge and passion for our game. We pride ourselves on being the industry leader for over 60 years— developing youth hockey players and maximizing potential through our summer Hockey Camps, Academy programs, WHL Development Combines and Prospect Showcases.
Camps for Children of All Ages
Okanagan Hockey Camps operate in four unique locations; Penticton, BC; Kelowna, BC; Calgary, AB; and Edmonton, AB. Our facilities are open to everyone, as our instructors adapt their coaching practices to various skill levels and learning styles. Each instructor utilizes their expertise to teach in a fun & encouraging way; helping beginners better understand the fundamental skills of the game.
Our Learn-to-Play camps start from the grass-roots, and are designed for kids as young as 5 years old. We offer a variety of development camps for the younger ages, such as our 3S Camp, U9 Advanced Camp and U9 Pre-Season Prep Camp.
From little tykes to advanced teenagers, our camps cater to all skill levels. Each of our locations offers a range of training programs designed to help young athletes reach their full potential.
Our specialized camps are designed to hone specific skills within the game. These camps will offer goalie specific training, defensive tactics, proper checking techniques, or may even be partnered with a Pro!
While most of our camps are co-ed, we also offer female-only camps in Penticton, BC. We aspire to empower girls and women in sport, and help them to develop within the game of hockey.
Our Coaches
With professional staff and world-class facilities, our top priority is always the care of our athletes. We believe in keeping our athlete-coach ratios small to provide the individual attention needed to succeed in the game. All our coaches have extensive hockey experience, foster a positive training environment and work hard to make a meaningful impact by providing tools that will last a lifetime.
Combines
The Western Hockey League, in partnership with Okanagan Hockey, is the number one choice for high-volume athlete assessments for players in the western provinces and states. Comprehensive on- and off-ice testing is conducted using state-of-the-art equipment designed by Sport Testing Inc. We have WHL Combine testing hubs set up in Penticton, BC and Calgary, AB. The WHL Combine Testing crew can test 40 athletes in a 75-minute ice session or up to 500 athletes in one day.
