Square Enix removes original version of Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age after the arrival of version S

Square Enix has removed the original version of Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age from several digital stores following the release of the new S version.

In the Steam page Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Digital Edition of Light, for example, it is explained that the game has been withdrawn “at the request of the publisher”. The text explains that the original September 2018 version is no longer available, and links the page of the new Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition, released on December 3.

The PlayStation Store has also disappeared from the original version, and even In Humble, it is noted that it is no longer available.

This decision by the Japanese company has generated numerous complaints from fans. Although version S, which was originally released in Japan in September 2019, is an enhanced edition with extra content and the option to play with a 16-bit JRPG graphic appearance, also includes some visual differences that some consider being a downgrade.

Complaints also extend to the inability to purchase an upgrade to Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition, since to enjoy the new version you have to buy the game at full price, even if you owned the original.
