The Perfect Pastimes for A Quick Break

One of the most common bits of advice is to take regular breaks from whatever you’ve been doing, as it serves to ensure that you are always working at your best. Yet these short breaks can be more trouble than their worth unless you have some idea as to what you can do. There are some breaks from work that aren’t long enough to finish that chapter you’re reading or watch the television series you’ve been following. However, these are essential breaks and should be used to improve productivity and contribute to your rest and relaxation.

  • Watch short video clips

There are now so many more sites that are like, if not better than, YouTube. The number of short media clips that proliferate the online space is tremendous, and you can now watch anything from comedy to short documentaries and news. It’s one of the best ways to use your short breaks, or just to take a break at your desk, to clear the mind and refresh to start again.

  • Listen to podcasts

If you have a SoundCloud or Spotify account, then you will be able to easily find and listen to some great podcasts. These are essentially the audio programs linked to specific topics that can be found online. It’s not talk radio. With this, you can choose the topics that you want to hear debated or discussed and have more control over what you learn or get entertained by.

  • Have a short music playlist

There’s nothing like some good music to boost your mood and get you back to peak performance at the workplace. Create specific playlists for the type of break you want to take, some meditative tunes for the times you just need to calm down and relax to the core, as well as fast-paced bass-filled rhythms to get your heart pumping and blood racing and to feel like a hero.

  • Play at the online casino

Playing a quick hand of poker or a few slots is always a good means of taking a break from the more serious business of work. If you’ve got a short break, then it’s the perfect amount of time to log on to your favorite casino and enjoy the top games. If you don’t yet have a favorite casino, then not to worry, now is as good as any other time to start. Look at this list of the top US online casinos, compare the different bonuses and reviews, and pick one from here. You will soon have a top favorite that you go back to time and time again.

  • Log on to your language app

Learning a language must be a constant and ongoing effort. Those who have used the many language apps out there, such as Duo Lingo or Rosetta Stone, will attest to this. Using a daily break to get a few minutes of practice and listening to the language you have chosen to learn will go a long way to making you more proficient.

You’ll need a few accessories such as a good pair of headphones to be able to play the volume at the level that works for you and doesn’t disturb those who aren’t on a break.

There is just so much proof out there to show the benefits of taking more regular breaks from the monotony and constant pressure of work. Increasing numbers of employers have recognized this, and there are many with more breaks throughout the day. Use them wisely.
