Following the incident, Wembanyama addressed the situation, stating he had been walking with his security detail when someone grabbed his attention from behind. Although he didn’t witness the specific incident, he mentioned that his security team had pushed the person away. The player admitted he didn’t realize the individual was Britney Spears until much later, as he hadn’t turned around to see who it was.
Legal Proceedings
The Los Angeles Times confirmed that Spears filed a police report regarding her encounter, however details regarding its content remain undisclosed. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department acknowledged and are currently investigating this potential battery incident with no arrests or citations having taken place at this point in time. Surveillance video from the restaurant was reviewed, leading the Las Vegas Police Department to conclude that Spears inadvertently hit herself in the face after her hand was pushed away from Wembanyama.
