Susan Benedetto grew up on New York City’s Upper East Side before attending Fordham University to study art history before working at The Metropolitan Museum of Art until her untimely passing in 2010.
Benedetto is widely respected for her charitable efforts and founding of Exploring the Arts With Tony in 1999 – an organization which funds arts education programs in public high schools throughout the US.
Under her direction, Exploring the Arts has provided over $3 Million in grants to schools nationwide for developing innovative arts programs which have inspired thousands of children and adolescents to discover a love for music, dance and theater.
Benedetto has also made significant contributions to several philanthropic and charitable organizations outside Exploring the Arts. She serves on the boards for Bennett Family Foundation as well as being involved with Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
