Why The Future of All Media and Entertainment Is Online

More people now access their media and entertainment online than in any other way, and in fact, it is calculated that 63% of all the people on earth are online in one way or another. That is over 5 billion people globally using the internet on a regular, if not daily, basis. It thus follows that the entertainment that they enjoy is also primarily found and accessed online. There are thus various changes that should be expected as technology changes, and the manner in which we go online also develops accordingly.

Even though it is online, media and entertainment will be more human than ever

Audience engagement, content choices, and the types of entertainment itself have become more human over time using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Just as marketing has used this tech development to personalize content, so too is it being developed in media and entertainment to make your entertainment options and choices bespoke to you. The only place that this can be done is online, where we are all able to create a distinct and separate entertainment profile and identity.

More immersive

The term immersive entertainment is becoming somewhat of a buzzword, and entertainment is now more about the experience than the materialistic accompaniments and merchandise. As the experience overrides the possession, and these experiences are then recorded and shared on social media, all entertainment looks to provide this level of immersion and ability to experience and then share. Augmented reality, virtual reality, and similar innovations in technology are fueling this change, and consumers are now also demanding a level of game immersion that we have not experienced previously.

Increased convenience

The future of most, if not all, entertainment will be online, or at least available as an option online (virtual access). This is arguably primarily for convenience and based on the aforementioned widespread internet access. If consumers don’t necessarily have to travel to a venue but can access a similar or exact version of the entertainment experience online, and in a social and shared manner with others, then most will simply log on and engage. The best example of such convenience is the rise of the casino online, and you are now able to play the same games that you would have in Vegas from the comfort and convenience of your own home.

Speed of digital and technological development and transformation

Technology is developing so fast and at the forefront of such development is the use of tech for entertainment. Online gaming and entertainment have been at the forefront of the use of innovative and fresh IT and tech developments, and this will remain the case for the near future, making for increased saturation of the internet and smart connected devices.

The future of our entertainment and media is all going to be online. There is no doubt, simply based on the current numbers and the ongoing growth of the sector. There is no turning back, and entertainment of the future will be online, and it will be personalized and professionally provided.
