An Interview With A New Face In Vegan Leather: Asif Ali Gohar

Our choices make us who we are, and most of these choices are shaped by the way we live. When Asif Ali Gohar moved to Germany, something inside him shifted as he became more empathetic and aware of how other humans and animals feel. Such empathy led him on a new journey that became his passion in no time.

Asif plans to change the world with one vegan leather item at a time. We conducted a comprehensive interview with him to help you learn more about him and his journey with vegan leather.

1. Please State Your Age And Place Of Birth

I am thirty years old, and my place of birth is Karachi, Pakistan.

2. When Did You Move To Germany?

My family and I moved to Germany when I was only twelve years old. It is where I was raised, and it had the most profound effect on me.

3. When And How Did You Turn To Veganism?

I turned to veganism when I was fifteen years old. As I moved to Germany, I developed a higher sensitivity for other beings around us, especially animals. That is when I realized that I did not want to kill them to sustain myself.

Because of this, I started consuming vegetables, and I have never looked back since then. It was one of the best decisions I made.

4. What Vegan Substitute Are You Using For Leather And Why?

I have been using rice because I began experimenting with it during my university time. I finally found a formula that worked to create rice into a leather slime. There are various reasons why I use rice.

It is affordable, accessible, and it helps me connect with my homeland. Pakistan has always been important to me and will remain important.

5. How Does It Help You Connect With Your Homeland?

Pakistan has a big industry of rice and leather. We export both items, and the quality is impeccable. That is why working with rice has been of importance to me, as it reminds me of where I come from.

6. How Do You Plan On Taking Your Journey Further?

I want to start producing vegan leather, but I don’t have the resources or the money at the moment. That is why I am looking for investors who would want to invest in my venture. It will help me change the vegan leather industry for the better and pay an ode to my heritage.

7. Do You Have A Message For Our Readers?

Yes, I just want to say that if you are in the rice or leather industry in Pakistan, please feel free to get in touch with me. I would love to connect with you, and we can explore this journey together. Thank you.

Final Thoughts

We hope Asif finds investors and everything else he is looking for. After all, we need more empathetic people in the world, and we can help by making their dreams come true.
