Interview: Pioneering Entrepreneur Toto Steubesand
Interviewer: Let’s talk about how you got into entrepreneurship… I like to find out what that “defining” moment was for the people that I interview. So how did you get into entrepreneurship and what was the edging moment that convinced you to go in fully?
Toto Steubesand: I think it is because of my childhood. I grew up in an entrepreneurial family. I also know life as an officer (public official) and for myself there are only these two options. Now I’m too old to start a new career inside the armed forces so I only can be an entrepreneur (LOL).
I love to manage things, to create things, to work on my own. There was no “one key moment” it was more a logical follow up from what I gained experience in my life before.
Interviewer: What is the one thing you think most makes you unique and stand out as an entrepreneur?
Toto Steubesand: lifelong learning, the ability to go in the Observer perspective, my mindset as a fighter/warrior/soldier
And DISCIPLINE to go my way
Interviewer: How do you measure success in such a competitive industry?
Toto Steubesand: Good question, when you are still in the “mouth of the people”, when you are gaining new customers and getting the “good jobs”.
Interviewer: Looking at your life and career so far, what makes you most proud?
Toto Steubesand: I’m proud that I have served together with my comrades inside the armed forces, also my international comrades. I met the best guys of my life during my service. But I’m also proud of my kids, of what I achieved till now and I’m looking forward to being proud of what I will achieve in the future!
Interviewer: How do you remain positive and inspired during challenging times?
Toto Steubesand: The key words are MINDSET and DISCIPLINE. I trust myself that I will be successful. It wouldn’t be sensible to go forward if I would think differently.
Interviewer: Who and what has inspired your journey thus far?
Toto Steubesand: Oh a lot of people. My father, friends, other entrepreneurs, but also the will “not to give up”.
Interviewer: Last question. How far are you projecting your career? What’s the long-term goal for yourself?
Toto Steubesand: To be honest, not as far as most people think. I try to make the best from each moment. For sure I built goals for a year, for 5 years and for a decade.
