How To Use and Maintain Tag Heuer Aquaracer Watches

Looking back, the Tag Heuer Aquaracer family has a great connection to water sports in contrast to the other motor racing brands. It met high design and functional standards in a short amount of time, resulting in it being a coveted item. These Aquaracers also stand out because of their broad range of selection. In addition to the model’s classic line, the Tag Heuer also offers chronographs.

For the first-time wearers of this exquisite watch, some may not utilize the functions all at once. If you wish to understand how to operate your Tag Heuer Aquaracer watch, we compiled some instructions on how to use them. It would help a lot to check some functions you are not yet familiar with.

How to utilize Aquaracer Quartz Date

● Setting the time.

One of the great features of Tag Heuer Aquaracer is the screw-down crown that keeps the watch water-resistant. It also functions to set the time and date. First, you need to unscrew the crown by rotating it counterclockwise. When you felt that popping click, pull it out until it reaches the second click. You may start setting the time by turning the crown clockwise to move forward.

● Setting the date.

For the date, ensure that you are outside the time frame of 8 pm to 3 am to avoid damaging your watch. Move both hands until it reaches the 6 o’clock mark. Push the crown back all the way in, then pull until you feel one click. Turn it counterclockwise to set the date. Avoid moving it clockwise because it will remain on the same date and might damage the clock eventually.

Return the crown by pushing it back and turn it clockwise till it is screwed well. Do not turn it too tight but just enough to maintain the water resistance.

● Setting the bezel.

Aquaracer has a unidirectional rotating bezel that you can only turn to the left and cannot be rotated to the right. You can set the bezel for diving or to measure and check the oxygen left in your tank.

How to utilize Aquaracer Automatic Date

● Setting the time/Winding.

The same as the quartz watch of Aquaracer, it has a screw-down crown that has several important functions. You need to turn or unscrew the crown counterclockwise until you felt the popping click.

After that, you need to wind the watch up to 40-50 rotations by turning the crown clockwise. Upon turning it, you will notice that your fingers can only make half of one revolution. So, you need to do it 80-100 times to completely revolve the crown. You would hear some resistance or friction that shows it is winding.

To set the time, pull the crown until two pop clicks. You can now start moving the hands forward or backward to set the time.

● Setting the date.

Just like in the Aquaracer quartz, you need to ensure the hands are outside the time frame of 8 pm to 3 am. All you have to do is point both hands to 6 o’clock, then go back in pushing the crown in. Then, pull it until you feel one click. Start setting the date by turning the crown clockwise.

It will advance the date, but you don’t need to move it counterclockwise. Just let it be and push the crown all the way in and turn it clockwise as it starts to screw back. Don’t screw the crown too tight to avoid stripping the screw, just enough to retain the water resistance.

● Setting the bezel.

The bezel is unidirectional which means you can only rotate it in one direction – from the left onwards. It’s best for diving purposes as it gauges what’s left in your oxygen tank.

How to utilize Aquaracer Automatic Chronograph

● Setting the time/Winding.

The same as the above-mentioned Aquaracers, turn the screw-down crown counterclockwise and wait till it comes out on its own. After it popped out, turn the crown clockwise to wind it in full 40-50 revolutions. It will move within the next 38 hours on its own after that.

Pull the crown until it hit two clicks, then turn it clockwise to move back or counterclockwise to move forward. You can now set the time.

● Setting the date.

Point the hands to the six-hour mark and avoid it between the 8 pm to 3 am time frame, or you might not remember if you are in AM or PM. Push the crown in, then pull with one click. Turn it clockwise, and you would have only the advanced date because you won’t be able to turn it counterclockwise.

● Setting the chronograph feature.

A chronograph is an excellent feature to time certain things or events and uses it as a stopwatch. Here, the seconds hand is in the right sub-dial while the other two are the hours and minute chronographs.

To set it, press the button at the 2 o’clock position once. You can see that the long sweep hand moves as well as the sub-dials. Press the right-bottom button, then start to reset. Like the models above, this Aquaracer has a unidirectional rotating bezel with the same function.

Proper care for your Tag Heuer watch

Having a luxury watch requires proper cleaning to maintain its shine and quality. It is best to clean your wristwatch every two to three months. To maintain water resistance in shape, ensure you keep the crown pushed in and screwed down properly.

Also, have the seals tested or changed at an official service shop of Tag Heuer within the year. After ensuring they are good, it is now safe to wash your watch in a little soapy water with a soft brush. Rinse, then use a dry soft cloth to dry it.

If you are not sure about the quality of its water resistance yet, just clean it with a soft brush. On the other hand, straps like leather and fabric must not be wet, or else the color might fade a little gradually. If you have been swimming or diving, rinse the watch to remove the saltwater by putting freshwater. Dry it with a soft, dry cloth.
