Mya Fuller was an intelligent 22-year-old from Murfreesboro, Tennessee who tragically perished after attending a Nashville nightclub. Following this night out she was found lifeless in Wilson County rural woods a day or so later with gunshot wounds to both ribs and pelvis that caused death – leaving many shocked in Wilson County as well as Mya’s loved ones devastated with heartbreaking sorrow over this act of brutality.
Unsolved Mystery: Details of the Crime
As Mya’s family reported her missing, authorities embarked on an intensive search. The efforts led them to her body in August 2022, and the medical examiner declared her death a homicide. Following a thorough investigation, authorities arrested Taiyana Tipton (21), Ty’Shawne Bowles (20), and La’Myra Pipkins (20). Despite being charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and abuse of a corpse, the motive behind the atrocious crime remains undisclosed.
Even more shocking was the revelation that Mya Fuller and the accused were not acquainted before the incident. This seemingly random act of violence has left the community in disbelief and deepened the sense of tragedy surrounding her death.
Seeking Justice: The Investigation Continues
Almost one year on from the discovery of Mya Fuller’s body, the investigation remains active. The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Robert Bryan and Detective Walker Woods, has reaffirmed their commitment to solving the case and bringing justice to Mya and her family. The authorities have not classified the case as cold and continue to diligently follow up on leads and new information.
Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and Mya’s family and friends have established a reward fund totaling $22,550 that seeks to incentivize those with information which might lead to the identification, prosecution and conviction of those responsible for her death. The aim is for this reward fund to incentivize any people with relevant knowledge who could lead to its realization.
Remembering Mya Fuller
As the community continues to mourn the loss of Mya Fuller, they remember a bright, talented young woman. An excellent basketball player, Mya was set to start her studies at Vol State. Her tragic end has left a significant void in the community and amongst her loved ones.
Chris and Tonya Fuller remain hopeful that the ongoing investigation will soon produce results in terms of an arrest, as do so many members of her community who seek closure and justice over Mya’s tragic passing.
