Snowpiercer will return for its second season in early 2021 and will once again launch on Netflix internationally on a weekly basis. Here are the current expected release schedule and a bit of what we know about Snowpiercer season 2.
The dystopian thriller that is based on Bong Joon-ho’s script began in mid-2020 to mostly positive reviews. Netflix managed to get the international rights to the series that airs first on TNT (owned by Warner Brothers) where it was released weekly.
Notably, in season 2, Sean Bean will be visible in person rather than being heard by the tannoy system. It will also be the case that Netflix airs the show internationally on a weekly basis during season 2.
Netflix Release Schedule For Snowpiercer Season 2
It doesn’t seem like the new episodes will arrive exactly one day after the premiere. Instead, they will hit Netflix 5 days later.
At the moment, the only release date that we know of so far is that Episode 1 of Season 2 will premiere on January 25, 2021. The first episode will appear on Netflix the following morning at 8 a.m. M. GMT (see what time is your time zone).
That means the new episodes will air in the United States on TNT on Mondays and hit Netflix on Tuesdays. This is slightly different from Season 1 that used to air on Sunday nights in the US before hitting Netflix on Mondays.
Below is a table of releases for the 10 episodes expected at the moment. Season 1 ran for 9 weeks in a row and the 9th and 10th episodes aired on the same day. We have assumed that is happening again here but will update if that changes.
Is Snowpiercer Coming To Netflix US?
Although we were hopeful that Netflix in the US and Canada could see Snowpiercer added as we have seen with other licensing agreements of this nature. That seems almost certain that it will not happen.
Although the series has been missing from a streaming service of any kind, in January 2021 the first season will be added to HBO Max in the United States. Season 2 will likely follow in early 2022.
