2022 has already been a stellar year for Android phones, with Google Pixel 6 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and the Vivo X80 Pro being released. However, we still have a few months left in the year, and we think the best is yet to come. Some fantastic Android phones are being released in the back half of 2022, and we’re here to let you know the ones you should look out for.
Motorola Razr (2022)
After Motorola threw back to their classic flip phone in 2020, they’re releasing a follow-up to its 2020 model with a clamshell foldable phone that looks set to rival the Galaxy Z Flip 4. While it’s already been released in China, we’re still waiting for it to arrive in Europe and North America, although we can use the Chinese release to get a glimpse of what we can expect. The display is where the Razr (2022) excels, with a 6.7-inch main display that comes with a Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It has a significantly larger external screen than the Z Flip 4, with a 2.7-inch OLED screen compared to Samsung’s 1.9-inch screen. We can expect a lot of power from this phone, as it comes with a Snapdragon 8+ chipset, 8-12GB of RAM, 128-512GB of storage, and a 3500mAh 33W battery. It even looks to have great cameras, which you don’t usually see on a flip phone; it has a 50MP primary lens, a 13MP ultra-wide lens on the back, and a 32MP front camera. Samsung Galaxy A23 5G
Samsung’s budget phone, the Galaxy A23, was a resounding success upon its launch, but one major complaint was the lack of 5G support. Samsung listened to this and has now announced the A23 5G, a slightly upgraded version of the original A23 with full 5G network support. It’s rumoured that the phone will be using the Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, an upgrade of the original’s Snapdragon 680 chipset, and will come with a choice of 4, 6, or 8GB of RAM. You can also choose between 64GB and 128GB of storage space, and there is a micro SD card slot if you’re worried that 128GB won’t be enough space. While this may not sound like the most cutting-edge tech, you must remember that the A23 is part of Samsung’s budget line, and the A23 5G is expected to retail at around £229/$299. For a phone this cheap, those specs are fantastic. That seems to continue as the rumours we hear about the Fold 2 fill us with excitement. If the rumours are true, the Fold 2 will be one of the most powerful phones anywhere in the world, whether you’re from the UK, the Middle East, or North Africa. It is said to have 12GB of RAM as standard and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. It will also have a fantastic 8-inch OLED screen with 1 billion colours and a 120Hz refresh rate.
