The Society 2nd Season Of The Series Will No Longer Happen

After having several projects paralyzed due to the pandemic, Netflix is gradually moving on with new announcements. However, the latest one is not encouraging for fans of The Society series.

According to information from the Deadline website, the series starring actress Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies, Blockers), which had already been renewed in July 2019, will no longer win the 2nd season through the streaming platform.

It is worth mentioning that previously the 2nd season of The Society was scheduled to be released in 2020, but a few weeks ago the notice in question was removed from Netflix. The big reason that led to the cancellation of the new episodes involves precisely the increase in the cost of production due to the pandemic of Coronavirus (Covid-19), which in turn also claimed another victim: the series I Am Not Okay With This.

Check below Netflix’s statement on the future of the two projects:

“We made the difficult decision not to go ahead with the second seasons of The Society and I Am Not Okay With This. We are disappointed to have to make these decisions due to the circumstances created by COVID, and we are grateful to these creators, including Jonathan Entwistle, Christy Hall, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry at 21 Laps Entertainment by I Am Not Okay With This; Chris Keyser, Marc Webb and Pavlina Hatoupis for The Society; and all the writers, casts and teams who have worked tirelessly to make these programs for our members around the world ”.
Actresses Kathryn Newton and Gideon Adlon, interpreters of the characters Allie and Becca, made alive on Instagram talking about the series, its cancellation, and the production status that it was at the time.
