“Grace And Frankie” Will Not Have Season 8 On Netflix: Why Was The Series Canceled?

Grace and Frankie “, the Netflix comedy starring Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, premiered its sixth season on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 and is already preparing its seventh installment, which will also be the last in the series created by Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris.

On September 4 of last year, the official Twitter account confirmed that it will have season 7 and announced that it will mark the end of the story of these two women who struck up a friendship due to the hazards of life.

With this, “ Grace and Frankie ” joins the list of the longest-running Netflix series to be canceled. The first to say goodbye was “House of cards”, which ended after six seasons, and the next was “Orange is the new black”, which ended after seven installments and 91 episodes.

The seventh season will have 16 episodes and in total the fiction will have 94 episodes, which makes it the longest-running series on the popular streaming platform. Production of the last entre appears to begin in late 2020 in Los Angeles.

Why Will “Grace And Frankie” Not Have Season 8?

Although Netflix has not given an official response on the reasons that led it to cancel ” Grace and Frankie, ” most likely the showrunners want to conclude the show naturally and while they are still successful.

“It is exciting and in a way timely that our series on the challenge of aging, in addition to the beauty and dignity of this age, ends up being the oldest on Netflix,” explained Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris in a statement that The Hollywood Reporter shared.

For his part, Kauffman already has other projects in mind. In an interview with RollingStone he talked about a pilot for TNT and a script based on the book “We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves”.
