‘Honeydew’ Trailer Brings Strange Cravings And Steven Spielberg’s Son

We have a new trailer for the upcoming horror/thriller Drops of Honey. This movie, on paper, has several things going for it. For one thing, it was an animated title that came out of the Lightstream Film Festival. Second, it stars Sawyer Spielberg in his acting debut. And yes, this is not a coincidence.
Sawyer Spielberg is the son of legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. While his father made a name for himself behind the camera, the young Spielberg is attempting acting. In this case, you’ll have plenty of screen time to prove your worth, as it appears to be a tense, minimalist thrill ride.
The trailer begins with what appears to be a robbery attempt on an isolated farm in the middle of nowhere. Needless to say, this does not end well for the perpetrator. We then meet a couple driving down a country road before encountering a haunting child. At night, when they try to camp, a farmer informs them that they are on his property.
Naturally, your car battery is dead, so you are left with one option; Head to the old farm and ask the seemingly nice old lady for help. Things get weirder and more unsettling from there. Not that the two of them were flooded with options, but they ended up in the worst possible place.
The cast also includes Malin Barr ( Skyscraper ) and Barbara Kingsley ( Jessica Jones ). It was directed and written by Devereux Milburn. It marks Milburn’s feature film directorial debut. He had previously directed shorts like Stayed By and Wade. The film was originally scheduled to debut at the Tribeca Film Festival. But like many events in 2020, it was canceled. But it still landed a distribution deal after its Lightstream debut and it’s coming later this year for horror fans to see for themselves. Dark Star Pictures President Michael Repsch had this to say about the film when the distribution deal was struck last October.
“Writer/director Devereux Milburn has expertly crafted a ghoulish vision bursting with a style that will get fans of the genre and moviegoers excited for what he brings next.”
Honey Drops focuses on a young couple Sawyer Spielberg and Malin Barr). They are forced to seek refuge in the home of an elderly farmer (Barbara Kingsley) and his strange son. It’s not long before the couple suddenly starts having strange cravings and hallucinations, leading them down a strange rabbit hole.
Many, many 2020 movies were pushed forward to 2021 in the hope that theaters would return to normal operation. That has not happened. So some of the movies coming out are getting a hybrid release, combining theaters and streaming. This situation will be no different. Honey Drops hits theaters on March 12 before hitting on-demand platforms on April 13. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself from the Dark Star Pictures YouTube channel.
